INSTALLING LOCALE PRINTER AND PRINTER SHARING
How to Install a Local Printer. here are the Steps to be followed
- first of all remove your new printer from package and secure the printer as told in user manual
- Then connect the printer to power and keep it ready for connecting it to your PC
- Now insert the Printer CD and fallow the installation instructions.
- It may ask you to connect the printer during this process and connect your printer when asked
- After this It may ask for reboot .If so reboot your PC and select print a test page
- If the test Page has been successfully printed then your installation of printer is done.
Note: I have given the steps of installing HP printers . The steps are basically same if there is any difference in installation of your printer Please check the User Manual.
Now for sharing your Local Printer with other Pc's On LAN
Please do the following :
- go to start menu and go to printer and fax menu
- In this select the Printer to be shared
- Right click on the printer and select sharing
- just check enable default sharing option
- after sharing is enabled click share this printer and give a name to it
- after this close n finish and your printer is shared
- Now go to the Pc where you want the shared printer to be accessed
- Now in this PC goto network places. select view workgroup computer
- now goto the Pc where the shared printer is and double click on it
- now the printer will automatically be installed in your system
- alternatively you can type the address of printer like \\system1\printersharename,where system1 has a shared printer by name printersharename.
Note: you May require to install additional driver for win 98 , vista etc., and The following step are for PC in workgroup environment
Now you can give Print from your PC to the printer which is connected to other system.
