HOW TO SETUP A NETWORK PRINTER
DEAR ALL,MANY FIND DIFFICULTIES INSTALLING A NETWORK PRINTER SOMETIMES SO I WOULD LIKE TO DESCRIBE A DECENT PROCEDURE HERE
KNOWLEDGE NEEDED:
- Basic networking
- about printers.
To most of the network printers this procedure works.
1.place the printer in a place where airflow is good.
2.just plugin the power cable and let the printer get initialized.
3.once printer is initialized you will be able to see the menu on printer
goto SETTINGS-->TCP/IP SETTINGS-->MANUAL CONFIGURATION
-----
IP :XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
SUBNETMASK :255.255.255.255(DEPENDS ON CLASS OF IP YOU USE)
GATEWAY:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX(THIS OPTION CAN BE LEFT OUT NILL)
4.Go back to main menu .
5.Restart the printer.
Now the printer side setup is done..in order to setup clients computers to use this printer, you can use the software provided by the manufacturer of printer which is the best method
1.insert cd of printer software into the cd-rom of client computer
2.start the process of installation using setup.exe icon on the Compact Disc drive.usually autorun program starts by itself.
3.while installing, the installation software asks for automatic or manual finding of printer.the best way is to find manually.
4.to find manually, the software will ask for the ip addres if it is network printer so give the ip Address which was used in the setup process of printer hardware and the installation software will find it over the network with those IP if it matches it will return the device running with that ip.
5.select the desired printer and install it(usually drivers are installed on clients).
and you are done with it.
